Vigilance traces properties worth over Rs 1 cr from OSAP Sepoy

Cuttack: The State Vigilance unearthed properties worth Rs 1.26 crore of a Sepoy of the Odisha State Armed Police (OSAP) Sixth Battalion today.

Based on allegations of amassing assets disproportionate to the known sources of income, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches at five places associated with the OSAP Sixth Battalion Sepoy, Sahadev Parida. The raids were conducted at the residential government quarter of Parida at OSAP sixth battalion in Cuttack, his triple-storeyed building at Tinigharia in Nuabazar, asbestos house at Gandarpur.

Also, the officials searched Parida’s house at Talajanga village and a relative’s place at Malatipatapur in Puri.

Vigilance official sources said a total of five teams participated in the raids on the strength of search warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.

One triple-storeyed building at Tinigharia, a single-storeyed building at Talajanga village in Puri, one asbestos house at Gandarpur in Cuttack, five plots including two plots at Malatipatapur in Puri district and three plots at Gandarpur and Gopalpur in Cuttack district respectively, four two-wheelers, bank deposits over Rs 9.54 lakh, gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs 5.17 lakh, cash of Rs 2,94,600 and other movable and immovable properties, were unearthed during the house searches, the Vigilance official sources added.

Further investigation into the case is on.
