Villagers attack cops over road construction issue in Odisha’s Nayagarh

Nayagarh: As many as three policemen were injured at Gudupangi village under Sadar police limits in Odisha’s Nayagarh district today as villagers attacked the cops over a road construction issue.

According to reports, a road is being constructed from Balabhadrapur village to Dhipamala village under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

Residents of Gudupangi had been demanding that the road be created through their village.

Alleging that no heed was paid to their demand, they damaged a JCB machine used in the road work and a police vehicle besides attacking policemen, reports said.

A platoon of police force has been deployed at the spot to avoid further untoward incident, reports added.
