Villagers block NH demanding lifting of containment order in Odisha

Keonjhar:  Tension prevailed in Keonjhar Town police station area after a group of locals staged a protest on NH-49 at Nihal Singh Chhak today demanding lifting of containment order imposed in a particular area alleging apathy of the administrative officials

The irate villagers alleged that the administration officials are not supplying essential items to households in the containment zone for which they are facing with several difficulties staying indoors.

“While public movement is strictly restricted in the containment zone, people in the area are deprived of availing various essential items, thanks to the apathetic attitude of the administration,” alleged a local.  On receiving information, district officials including Deputy Collector, local Tehsildar and Sadar SDPO reached the spot to pacify the irate locals.

Worth mentioning, four COVID-19 positive  cases were reported from Keonjhar district today. The total number of cases in the district stands at 30, including 22 active cases. Last on May 31, the Keonjhar district administration had declared  Chandali village under Ghasipura block as containment zone after detection of three positive cases.
