Villagers kill Maoist in Odisha’s Malkangiri
Malkangiri: In an unusual incident, a Maoist was allegedly stoned to death by some locals at Janturai village under Papermetla police limits in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, last night.
According to reports, a group of 25 armed Maoists had come to the village and threatened the locals not to celebrate Republic Day besides opposing road construction work in the area.
After blank firing by the extremists, irate villagers pelted stones at the the red rebels killing one of them on the spot.
Following the death of a Maoist and enraged with the opposition from the locals, the ultras set fire to 10 houses in Janturai village. Later they fled the spot.
The security personnel launched a combing operation in the area to nab the ultras.
