Burla jr docs to resume cease work from May 1

The Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA) of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR)-the premier medical institution of western Odisha today threatened to again resort to cease work from May 1 to press on their nine-point charter of demands.

“The government had promised to fulfill our demands by April 30. Only two of our nine demands have been fulfilled by the government. None of the other demands have been fulfilled. So we have decided to go on cease work from May 1,” said Shankar Ramchandani, president JDA VIMSAR briefing reporters at a press conference here today.

On the other hand, Sunamali Bag, director VIMSAR said a majority of the demands will be met with by the end of this month.

“Work is in full swing on all fronts. Most of the demands of the junior doctors will be met with by the end of this month. In view of the strike we have asked professors, assistant professors and senior residents to be on alert,” said Bag in his reaction to the cease work call given by the JDA.
