In the clips, headmaster of Matupalli UP school Jayadev Bisi was seen dozing off placing his legs on the table along with another teacher from Dumerpita village. He also reportedly urinated on the school verandah and abused students in offensive language.

Deogaon: Irate villagers staged an agitation and locked up a school after videos of two drunk teachers inappropriate behaviour went viral on social media in Deogaon block of Balangir district in Odisha on Thursday. The incident, which was reported from Matupalli village of Deogaon block on Wednesday, has triggered outrage among parents and guardians while raising serious concerns on the state of affairs in government schools.

As per reports, locals took to protests and locked the gate of Matupalli Upper Primary School after clips of two teachers’s misconduct in an inebriated condition surfaced.

In the clips, headmaster of Matupalli UP school Jayadev Bisi was seen dozing off placing his legs on the table along with another teacher from Dumerpita village. He also reportedly urinated on the school verandah and abused students in offensive language.

“Both my children go to Matupalli UP school. While the school is being utterly mismanaged and the headmaster being absent is a regular affair here, his recent drunk behaviour is unacceptable. We don’t want such teachers for our children. He should be dismissed immediately, “said one of the parents Debanand Puta. “Is he a teacher or an illiterat fool? What will he teach when he is treating school premises as a public toilet in drunken state? There is no trace of civility on him. We want him removed now,” said another Rameswar Bhoi.

Confirming the incident, students said as there is no toilet in the school, they go outside to relieve themselves. But as the headmaster was drunk, he came and took a leak on the school verandah and later went to sleep inside the class.

On getting information, block education officer Gobardhan Bhoi said the ABEO has been directed to inquire into the incident and submit a report after which necessary action will be taken.
