Vocational course in one school in each Odisha district from this year

The School and Mass Education department has approved recommendation of the relevant syllabus committee on introduction of a two-year course on “Secondary School Vocational Education Examination” in Automobiles, Information Technology & Information Technology Enabled services (IT & ITES) for the students of Class-IX (as level-I) and Class-X (as level-II), on the basis of national vocational education qualification framework of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), Delhi and the HRD ministry.

The new course will come into force with effect from the current academic session (2015-16) for Class-IX (level-I) and session 2016-17 for Class-X (level-II).

“The new course will be introduced in 30 High Schools in the first phase,” said School and Mass Education minister Debi Prasad Mishra while making the announcement today.

The schools where the course would be introduced in the first phase are: Angul High School; Town High School, Baleswar, George High School, Bargarh; Zila School, Bhadrak; PR High School, Bolangir; Basuni High School, Boudh; Ravenshaw Collegiate School, Cuttack; RBD High School, Deogarh; BB High School Dhenkanal; MR B. High School, Paralakhemundi, Gajapati; Onslow Institution, Chhatrapur, Ganjam; SK Academy, Jagatsinghpur; Jajpur Zilla School; Govt High School, Jharsuguda; Bhawanipatna Town High School, Kalahandi; Govt High School Khajuripada, Kandhamal; Kendrapara High School; DN High School, Keonjhar; Capital High School, Unit-III, Bhubaneswar; Govt High School Koraput; Govt (New) High School, Serapali, Malkangiri, MKC High School Mayurbhanj; RCD High School Nabarangapur; Brajendra High School, Nayagarh; National High School Nuapada; Biswambar Bidyapitha, Puri; Shree Ugratara High School, Rayagada; Budharaja High School Sambalpur; Khari High School, Sonepur; BS High School, Sundargarh.

The department would provide the syllabus, courses of studies, student’s handbook (study materials) and other relevant documents to the head of the institutions very soon, Mishra said.
