Wall collapse kills couple in Subarnapur

Nata Nayak(40) and Surabali Nayak(35) of Jambhalipali village under Ulunda block in Subarnapur district were killed on Sunday night as the wall of their neighbour’s house collapsed on them.

Reports said the tragic incident occurred when the couple was fast asleep. The wall of their neighbour’s house, weakened due to heavy rains in the last few days, caved in and fell on them.

They were declared ‘ brought dead ‘ by the doctors at the local Public Health Centre. The couple is survived by two daughters and a son.

Meanwhile, the state government has announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh each for the families of the four persons killed on Sunday at Puri in a building collapse and also to the families of the two women who were killed following a wall collapse at Ektali village in Baleswar district the same day.
