Bhubaneswar, Feb 12:
Train commuters in Odisha looking for police help will not have to run from pillar to post anymore. They now have help at hand in the shape of a short, easy to remember telephone number – 1512 – that can be accessed from all landline/mobile phones in the state.
“Train passengers often face problems in contacting the nearest Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) as they are ignorant about its landline number. Hence a short code 1512 has been activated, which can be dialled from any land/cell phones. The call would automatically land at the nearest GRPS landline No. It would be very beneficial for on-board train passengers seeking police help,” GRP IIC Soubhagya Kumar Swain said.
Calls on this number will, however, be chargeable and not free, Swain clarified.
