Bhubaneswar, Mar 20:

Commissionerate Police on Thursday nabbed a wanted criminal from the city while he was allegedly about to commit a crime at a place under the Tamando police limits.

The accused, identified as Nalu Swain (38) of Beguniabasta village under Astaranga police limits in Puri district, was sent to Jharpada jail after his bail plea was rejected by the local court here today, police sources said.

Swain has more than 20 cases like dacoity, burglary and snatching registered against him in Infocity, Chandrasekharpur, Nayapalli, Khandagiri and Tamando police stations, said sources in the Tamando police who had nabbed him today.

Tamando police said they have seized valuable gold ornaments from the accused’s possession. However, they did not disclose the details of the seized items.

Two months back, police had arrested two of Swain’s associates while they were breaking open a shop under the Tamando police limits in a bid to loot it but had failed to arrest Swain, the mastermind.
