Bhubaneswar: A music video of American singer and actress Mary Millben singing the popular Hindi devotional song ‘Om Jai Jagdish Hare’ has stormed the internet.
On the eve of Diwali on November 12, Millben had shared an extension of her YouTube video that was filmed in the New York city. With the video clip, she wrote, “Diwali2020! Om Jai Jagdish Hare, a beautiful Hindi hymn commonly sung during Diwali and in Indian households worldwide, is a song of worship and celebration. This hymn continues to move me, touch my spirit, and stir my passion for Indian culture.”
Mary Millben made sure the song had the essence of the soil from where it came and thus, she shot the music video draped in an orange lehnga choli that was complimented by traditional Indian jewellery.

The video garnered mixed reactions from tweeple.
One of the tweeple wrote, “Can’t imagine how much efforts you put on this. Haven’t seen anybody who is not fluent in Hindi ,pronouncing such difficult Hindi words with such a beautiful voice.”
Another tweeted, ” Very nicely sung and captivating. But Vishnu prayer for Jesus! Would Jesus accept it? Just asking. Although message is good in a sense that God is one. I wonder if Bhakti tradition of Hindus is the original inspiration for prayer rituals of other religions.”
