Baripada: Five passengers escaped unhurt after a car in which they were travelling caught fire on the NH-18 in Mayurbhanj district today.

The incident occurred on a flyover at Betnoti area when the car bearing the Registration No. OD02E 8925 was travelling from Badasahi to Balasore district.

Fortunately, five persons including driver of the car managed to get out of the burning vehicle. The Betnoti fire services personnel doused the flames after half-an-hour of operation.

Locals suspected a short circuit to be the cause of the fire.
