Berhampur: Residents of Station Road in Chhatrapur of Odisha’s Ganjam district are reeling under water scarcity. So much so, the locals have resorted to lottery system for deciding the order in which they will be allowed to fetch water from the supply pipe.
Earlier, dispute was prevailing among the women of the locality over getting water as it is reportedly being supplied once in a day through the pipe. Later, they opted lottery to decide the order in which they will stand in the queue for fetching water.
“We are facing water scarcity issue for the last four years. We had visited the concerned JE in this regard, but no action has been taken so far. Normally, the first three persons in the queue get water before the supply stops for the day while the rest face severe inconvenience,” a woman of the locality said.
