Balasore: It was a scene directly from a Hollywood movie. Strong wind was blowing amid heavy rain and big trees being uprooted and thrown away some metres away. Siren of emergency service vehicles was blowing and no one seen outside. The scary moment was captured by someone in a mobile phone present at Bahanaga of Balasore district where landfall of very severe cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’ occurred today morning.
With a wind speed of 130-140 kmph the cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’ hit Bahanaga area and wreaked havoc in Bhadrak and Balasore districts.
The process of landfall started at 9.00 AM and completed at around 1.00 PM today.
The weathermen predicted rainfall under influence of the cyclone in coastal and north coastal districts till tomorrow.
As per the Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha PK Jena, two people died in the State due to the very severe cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’.
