Nuapada: Taking the use of technology for public service to a whole new level, a Sarpanch used a drone to deliver pension to a divyang person at the latter’s doorstep in Odisha’s Nuapada district.
According to reports, Hetaram Satnami, a resident of Bhutkapada village under Bhaleswar Panchayat in the district, is a beneficiary of the State Government’s Madhu Babu Pension Yojana.
Being a differently-abled person, Satnami finds it difficult to go to the Panchayat Office to receive his pension as it is located around 2 km away from the village.
To avoid the inconvenience, local Sarpanch Saroj Agarwal on Saturday engaged a drone to send Satnami’s pension to his house. A visibly elated Satnami received the pension from the device as the villagers witnessed the unique incident.
“As Satnami is a divyang, it is difficult for him to come to the Panchayat Office. On knowing about the matter, I decided to send the pension to him using a drone so that he can receive it comfortable,” the Sarpanch said.
