A World Bank team visited cyclone Phailin hit Ganjam district in Odisha and discussed restoration works in the ravaged areas with the district administration.
The country director of the international lending agency Onno Ruhl, along with the team, visited the cyclone-shelter at Prayagi , near the Rushikulya river mouth on Tuesday.
Collector Prem Chandra Choudhury said that the district administration has presented the team with the required information about the cyclone.
The Executive Board of Directors of the World Bank has recently approved a 153 million US dollar credit to the Odisha government to build disaster resilient houses.
According to official sources, the state government has mulled a proposal to construct pucca houses within 5 km of the coast and the bank of Chilika Lake in Ganjam and Puri districts.
Sources said the state government has identified around 18,000 families in 113 villages of Ganjam district worst hit by cyclone Phailin for providing pucca houses with World Bank funding.
