Weather update: Rainfall intensity likely to increase in Odisha from Aug 7

Bhubaneswar: Even as the southwest monsoon has been subdued over Odisha, intensity of rain is likely to increase from August 7.

According to Bhubaneswar MeT of IMD, the southwest monsoon low pressure line is returning to its normal position. The rainfall activities are likely to increase across Odisha from August 5 and the intensity of downpour is likely to rise from August 7.

The regional meteorological centre has issued yellow warning for several districts for next 3 days starting tomorrow.

While heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Kendrapara during August 5 to 6, heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri and Jagatsinghpur between August 6 and 7.

Similarly, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, and Ganjam during August 7 to 8. Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Puri, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Kendrapara, Jajpur and Nuapada during the period.

The MeT has issued thunderstorm with lightning warning for one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri today.
