Western Odisha HC bench demand: Lawyers gherao judge in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Agitation over demand for establishment of a permanent bench of the Orissa High Court in western part of the state turned ugly today as the agitating lawyers gheraoed the Sambalpur District & Sessions Judge.

The lawyers reportedly asked the judge about the decision of the Chief Justice of the High Court regarding establishment of the bench, to which he replied that the court has been informed about the demand.

The agitators also told the judge about the inconvenience being faced by people due to cease-work strike by them for the last 50 days. They also requested the judge to apprise the state government about the problems arising due to the strike.
