Sabitri Brata is a fasting day observed by Hindu Odia married women on Amavasya in the month of Jyeshtha.
They observe this day by keeping fast and praying for long life of their husband. Married women in Odisha fast during the day and listen to the story of Savitri and Satyavan.

Amavasya Tithi Begins: May 29, 2022 2:55 PM.
Amavasya Tithi Ends: May 30, 2022 5:00 PM.
Rituals: Women who observe Sabitri Brata wake up early in the morning, take bath, wear new clothes and apply red vermillion on the forehead.
Savitri is symbolically represented by a grinding stone/ pestle (Sila Pua). After washing the Sila Pua, they decorate it with haldi, sindoor, new saree and gold ornaments.
Prasad is offered in the form of rice, wet pulses and fruits like mango, jackfruit, banana, palm, date palm etc.
The fasting begins at sunrise and ends after sunset with the evening prayers. The fast is broken by consuming the offering made to Savitri. However, they are allowed to consume fruits during the fast.
On this day, women visit temple wearing new saree and bangles. Some women perform their puja at home. They also read or listen to Sabitri Brata Katha mentioned in the Mahabharata.
