Widow suspected of praticing witchcraft killed in Odisha

Two persons were arrested by Tikayatpali police of Bonei Sub division in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Thursday for killing a widow on Wednesday evening with an axe suspecting her to be  practicing witchcraft. After the murder of the widow, one of the two accused surrendered before police with the axe. Police have seized the axe from the accused.

“Both the accused in this murder case have been arrested. They will be forwarded to court tomorrow. .We have also seized the axe used in the crome,” said GS Thakur, IIC, Tikayatpali  police station.

Sources said at around 5 pm on Wednesday evening, Baneswar Kishan (52) of Chikatnali village under Tikayatpali police station under Bonei sub division, alongwith one Dasharathi Kishan(19), reached near the house of Sita Kishan in the same village and attacked her with an axe. Sita Kishan died on the spot.

After killing Sita Kishan, Baneswar Kishan went to Tikayatpali police station with the axe and surrendered in the police station confessing before police that he and Dasarathi had Kishanhad  killed Sita Kishan suspecting her to be practicing witchcraft. Police detained him and seized the axe from him.

On Thursday police went to the spot and recovered the body of Sita Kishan and sent her body for post-mortem and later arrested Dasharathi Kishan and Baneswar Kishan.
