The woman, Sandhyarani Tripathy of Satyanagar Colony in Dumduma area under Khandagiri police limits met Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Satyabrata Bhoi today and told him that six youths, including two relatives of her late husband, arrived at her house on three bikes at about 1 AM . They entered the premises and called her. When she did not respond, they tried to break open the main door, but failed. In frustration, they poured acid they had brought with them on the floor of her entrance verandah and threatened to kill her while using abusive language.

“My husband Chandrakanta Rout Berma, a government employee, died recently. After his death, his brother Nishikanta Rout Berma and his cousin Dusmanta Pradhan have been pressurising me to hand over the property to them. This was the third time they have threatened me,” she alleged.

She also told the DCP that she had no other way but to meet him as the local police station refused to receive her complaint.

After hearing her complaint, the DCP directed the Zonal ACP to investigate the matter.

Talking to OST, the zonal ACP said the police are investigating into the matter and will take action against the culprits.

The woman was accompanied by some women activists, led by Nari Sachetanata Manch member Dolly Rath.
