Will protect Great Indian Bustard: Raje

Rajasthan will go all out to protect state bird ‘Great Indian Bustard’, a large bird with long bare legs, from extinction, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said on Friday.

“We are serious about saving the state bird ‘Great Indian Bustard’ from extinction and all out efforts at both national and international level will be made to save the bird,” Raje said in a statement.

Great Indian Bustard is locally known as Godawan.

“I will write a letter to union Minister for Forest and Environment Prakash Javadekar seeking support and resources for conservation of the bird,” she said after chairing a meeting of the state board for wildlife.

“We will also seek support of international experts, financial institutions and funding agencies would for this,” the chief minister said. (IANS)
