Withdrawal of Monsoon from Odisha continues; No rain alert during Durga Puja

Bhubaneswar: The withdrawal of southwest monsoon continues from some more parts of Odisha. The weather condition during Durga Puja is likely to be dry as no rain alert has been issued for next three days.

According to Bhubaneswar MeT, the southwest monsoon has withdrawn from Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Nuapada, Boudh, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur districts, most parts of Angul and Kalahandi districts and some parts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts as on October 12, 2021.

Meanwhile, the cyclonic circulation over North Andaman Sea and neighbourhood persists and now extends upto 4.5 km above mean sea level. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal & adjoining north Andaman sea during next 48 hours. It is likely to move westnorthwestwards and reach South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh coasts during subsequent 24 hours.

Although no rainfall alert has been issued for next three days starting today during Durga Puja, the MeT predicted light to moderate rain or thundershower for some parts of the districts till October 17 morning. The yellow warning has been issued for two days — valid from Oct 15 morning upto Oct 16 morning and from Oct 16 morning upto Oct 17 morning.

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and dry
weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and at a few places over the districts of Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar.

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: 1. Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kandhamal.

2. Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
