Woman and grandchild killed in road mishap in Odisha

Jajpur, Feb 1:

In a tragic incident a woman and her grandchild were killed and another injured in a road mishap on the Chandikhol-Paradip national highway near Balichandrapur Chhak in Odisha’s Jajpur district.

The deceased have been identified as Rashmita Nath (55) and her grandson Pritishri (13) of Gokulpur village under Tangi police limits in Cuttack district.

The mishap occurred today morning at around 8 am when the two were pillion riding on a relative’s bike and were returning to Gokulpur village from Paradip. They were hit by a crane near Balichandrapur Chhak.

The motorist (relative of the deceased) has been also injured in the accident. He has been shifted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Barchana.

Police has seized the bodies of the deceased and sent them for post-mortem to the CHC at Barchana. It has also seized the crane and is investigating the matter.
