Woman claims to be Odisha MLA’s wife, alleges physical torture

A woman today claimed to be Talcher MLA Braja Kishore Pradhan’s wife saying that the legislator had earlier married her at a temple.

She also lodged a complaint with Mahila police alleging that the lawmaker is refusing to accept her as his wife.

The complainant further alleged that the MLA is torturing her physically and mentally threatening her not to disclose the matter.

“I met Braja Kishore in 2014. After staying together for few days, we decided to tie the knot in temple. However, he is neither giving me the status of his wife nor staying with me after our marriage. He takes me to his Bhubaneswar residence but has never taken me to his house in Talcher,” the woman said.

“I have all the proof of getting married to him at a temple. If needed, I will provide it to police,” she said.

Refuting the allegations, MLA Pradhan claimed it to be a conspiracy by a minister to defame him.

“I know the woman as she often seeks help from me,” he said.
