Woman hacked to death on suspicion of practising sorcery

A 60-year-old tribal woman was on Sunday night hacked to death in Odisha’s Keonjhar district for allegedly practising sorcery.


According to reports, the sexagenarian woman identified as Shanibari Munda, a resident of Munda Sahi in Malda village under Bamebari police station limits in the district, was axed to death by her neighbour on suspicion of practising witchcraft.

The accused Raya Munda’s elder son died two days ago following illness. The grief-stricken father suspected Shanibari to be practising sorcery which killed his son. An infuriated Raya attacked Shanibari with an axe yesterday night killing her on the spot.

Meanwhile, local police arrested him and started investigation into the incident.
