Woman JE held for taking Rs 30k bribe in Odisha

Cuttack: Odisha Vigilance officials today arrested Bidulata Rout, Junior Engineer, RWSS, Niali Block in Cuttack district for allegedly taking bribe of Rs 30,100.

According to sources, the JE had demanded the amount from one Md. Mojamil Seikh to submit bill of 43 latrines amounting Rs 5,16,000 constructed by him under Swachh Bharat scheme.

Acting on a complaint by Mojamil Seikh, the Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught Rout red-handed while she was accepting the money from the complainant at Niali Block office.

The bribe amount was recovered at the spot and seized. A case has been registered in this connection and further investigation is underway, sources added.
