Woman kidnapped, gang-raped for two days in Odisha’s Rourkela

Rourkela: A young woman was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by two youths in Odisha’s Rourkela city for two days.

According to reports, the victim, who works at a hotel in Traffic Gate Market here and resides at Hilltop Basti in the city, was returning home in an auto-rickshaw on July 28 around 9 pm.

After the driver of the three-wheeler stopped the vehicle at Sector-2 Chhak, two youths forcibly took her to a hill behind Konark Talkies in Sector-21 here. The duo allegedly confined the woman and raper her for two days.

Later, she managed to flee from the clutches of the accused and reached Ring Road, from where she was rescued by her family members.

Police have started investigation into the incident after the sister of the victim lodged a complaint with Plant Site police. The woman was sent for medical examination and her statement was recorded before magistrate.

The truth behind the allegation can be ascertained after a detailed probe, police said.
