Woman killed by two sons over allowance in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh: A 55-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death by her two sons over her old-age allowance at Baragada village under Sadar police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district last night.

According to reports, Naveen Kisan (30) and Bipin Kisan (28), the accused duo and sons of deceased woman Pikeswari Kisan, used to take their mother’s old-age allowance every month.

Yesterday, they quarrelled with Pikeswari, a widow, as she refused to give them the allowance amount of Rs 400. Losing their cool, the two brothers allegedly thrashed their mother with lathi and hacked her with an axe, leading to her death on the spot.

While both the accused blamed each other for the death, police have detained the two for questioning. Investigation into the matter is underway.
