Woman killed, husband critical in elephant attack in Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: An elderly woman died while her husband sustained critical injuries after being attacked by an elephant at Matia Sahi under Hindol Forest Range in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, late last night.

According to reports, a tusker demolished a thatched house inside which deceased Sajanai Pradhan (67) and her husband Bharat Pradhan (80) were sleeping. The pachyderm then barged into the house and attacked the husband-wife duo injuring the two grieviously.

They were rushed to the Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital, where the woman was declared dead. On the other hand, Bharat has been shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for better treatment.
