Woman killed in elephant attack in Odisha’s Angul

Angul: A tusker trampled a woman to death at Gopalpur village under Purunakot Forest Range in Odisha’s Angul district, today.

The deceased has been identified as Jayanti Beer (40). According to reports, the woman had gone out of her house around 3.30 am for attending nature’s call when the elephant attacked her killing her on the spot.

On being informed, Purunakot Ranger Gajendra Behera and other Forest officials reached the spot and started investigation. The woman’s body has been recovered for post-mortem.

Villagers expressed resentment alleging that though elephant attack claimed several lives in the locality in the recent past, Forest Department hasn’t taken any step in this regard.
