Woman levels casting couch allegations against hubby

A day after Ollywood album actor Debraj was arrested by Commissionerate police following complaints filed by his wife, the complainant today spilled the beans on the deceitful ways adopted by the beleaguered actor to sexually exploit the struggling actors through ‘casting couch’.

 

The actor well-known for his on-screen romantic appearances with established and newcomers has landed in trouble for dowry torture allegations levelled by his wife. His one time lady love today levelled serious allegations of luring newcomers to get them acting roles through ‘casting couch.’

“He lures girls on the promise of giving them break in video albums. He forces them to establish physical relationship with producers by which he earns money from the producers and gets acting roles too. He enters into love relationship with girls and financially exploits them. He dumps them when they are unable to spend money on him,” she alleged.

“He has physical relationship with a lot of girls he has acted with. He forces the girls to have physical relationship with producers and even directors too,” she added.

He was allegedly hunting for aspiring actors wishing to make a foothold in the industry. This apart, he was also insisting his wife to make a career in the glamour world.

“He was insisting me to act in movies. He had introduced me to a producer who asked me to get physical with him. I had even told my husband about this. But, I refused to accept the offer to act as first lead in exchange of the immoral offer,” she revealed.

“Based on the allegations, we have arrested the accused and forwarded him to court. Further investigation is on,” Twin City Commissioner RP Sharma said.

Satyabrata Sahu alias Debraj was arrested from Cuttack yesterday after his complainant wife filed an FIR with Mahila police here on September 30 alleging her husband subjecting her to torture. The accused actor was arrested by Mahila police with the help of Daragha Bazar police from Madhyam Arts office in Cuttack.

Debraj and Tapaswini were in a relationship before they got married in 2012 at Biraja temple in Jajpur. Later, they shifted to the capital city and were living in an area under Mancheswar police station limits.

Tapaswini had alleged that Debraj was torturing her for dowry. She had arranged Rs 4 lakh from her parents to fulfil his demands. However, the torture continued despite meeting his demands, she alleged.

As this continued unabated, she filed a complaint with police after which he was arrested yesterday.

It may be recalled that casting couch allegations were also levelled against Ollywood actor and choreographer Lubun Sen. He was arrested from his Cuttack residence on charges of blackmailing a girl from Deogarh district in April this year.

An FIR was registered at CDA Phase-II police station in Cuttack for allegedly blackmailing a girl to extort money from her.
