Woman murder case in Odisha’s Rourkela: Hubby among 6 arrested

The Chhend police today arrested six persons in connection with the murder of a woman at Bank Colony in Odisha’s Rourkela on September 7.

The arrested were identified as Kamal Kishore Oram, husband of the deceased, two women including sister-in-law (brother’s wife) of Kamal and three contract killers from Jharkhand.

Sources said, Kamal, working as Deputy Manager at a State Bank of India branch here, had plotted the murder of his wife Janaki Oram with the help of the two women and the contract killers after she came to know about his illicit relationship with his sister-in-law. Kamal has confessed to the crime at police station, sources added.

Notably, Janaki was found dead with her throat slit at Bank Colony here on September 7. A 15-day-old baby girl of the woman was rescued and admitted to hospital.

The mother of the woman had lodged a police complaint alleging that Kamal’s family members are involved in the murder.
