Woman pharmacist caught while taking bribe for injection in Odisha

Berhampur: A woman pharmacist fell into the Vigilance net for taking a bribe to give an anesthesia injection for surgery here in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

The accused identified as Merry Khan, a pharmacist of the MKCG Medical College & Hospital in Berhampur, was arrested on Thursday.

She was caught red-handed while receiving Rs 800 bribe from a patient’s son at the hospital.

According to reports, a person identified as Hatakeswar Samantray, a resident of Gajapati Nagar area in Berhampur, was undergoing treatment at orthopedic department of the MKCG Medical College & Hospital following an accident on Nov 26. The doctors had fixed a date for Dec 13 for surgery.

The patient’s son Manas Samantray met anesthesia pharmacist Merry regarding the surgery. However, she demanded money to provide him the anesthesia injection.

The Vigilance sleuths caught the accused red-handed while taking Rs 800 from Manas for the injection.
