Woman tagged as ‘COVID positive’ without test in Odisha!

Cuttack: COVID-19 testing standards in Odisha went for a toss as a woman of Cuttack city was allegedly tagged as COVID positive without a test.

The woman, a resident of Bauri Sahi in Bidanasi area of the city, was taking care of her 6-year-old son at a COVID Care Centre at Bidyadharpur here as he had tested positive for the virus on July 23.

The two were discharged from the COVID Care Centre on July 30. However, the woman was shocked to see her name being mentioned as a COVID-19 positive case in the discharge report. She claimed that her swab sample was never collected for COVID-19 test during her stay at the COVID Care Centre.

Though she queried about the matter, the COVID Care Centre authorities paid no heed towards it, she said.

Family of the woman, which is dependent on dairy farming for livelihood, has been undergoing severe inconvenience after the incident as people in the locality have stopped buying milk from them. The locals have also ostracized the woman’s family, she alleged.
