Woman who went missing a month ago found dead at forest in Khordha

Bhubaneswar: An elderly woman who went missing around a month ago was found dead at a cashew orchard near Radhamohanpur village under Jankia police limits in Odisha’s Khordha district, today.

The deceased was identified as Hemamani Muduli (75) of Siko village under Begunia block in the district.

According to reports, the woman had gone to a local pond on March 29 to take bath. However, she didn’t return following which her family members lodged a missing complaint with the police.

This morning, a person spotted the body lying in a decomposed state at the cashew orchard located around 3 km away from the deceased’s house and informed the police.

Though the body was not recognizable due to decomposition, the identity was established through the saree and mangalsutra worn by her.

Police have started an investigation into the incident to ascertain the circumstances under which the woman died.

The body has been recovered by police for post-mortem.
