World junior chess c’ship in Odisha capital from Aug 7

First ever world junior chess championship will be held in Odisha capital from August 7.

FIDE World Junior Chess Championships-2016 (for boys & girls under 20 years of age) will be held at KIIT, Bhubaneswar from August 7 – 22. The 15-day championship is sponsored by KIIT University and organized by All Orissa Chess Association under the guidance of All India Chess Federation (AICF) and FIDE.

This is the first time world junior chess championship will be held in KIIT. Players from181 different countries have been invited to participate in the mega event. The championship will be covered by different media across the world.

Prof. PP Mathur, VC, KIIT University, Prof. Anantraman (Chief Arbiter),  Sekhar Chandra Sahu, (IM) Tournament Director; Dr. Gaganendu Dash, Director of Sports KIIT University, Ranjan Mohanty, VP, AOCA and other officials from All India Chess Federation today briefed the media about the championship.
