Yet another Congress leader quits party along with supporters

Bhubaneswar: In another jolt to Congress, All India Congress Committee (AICC) member Laxman Kumar Meher today deserted the party citing ‘negligence’ towards him.

Along with him, former Congress’ Bolangir district president Bhagwan Bagarti and seven party workers also tendered their resignations ahead of the 2019 elections.

Meher is currently the president of Bolangir District Central Co-Operative Bank.

He was Congress’ poll candidate from Bolangir in 2009 Assembly elections. He had lost to Biju Janata Dal (BJD)’s Ananga Udaya Singhdeo by 16,866 votes.
