Young woman found hanging inside hostel in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: A young woman was found hanging inside a room of a private hostel in Nuasahi area under Nayapalli police limits here last night. However, the reason behind her suicide is yet to be ascertained.

As per reports, Pragyan Priyadarshini Sahu (24) of Sukinda area in Jajpur district was staying in the hostel as she was preparing for competitive examinations. She was also studying M.Ed in a college in Angul.

On Wednesday evening, Pragyan returned to the hostel and locked herself in her room. When she did not open the door late in the night, her hostel mates broke open the door and found her hanging  from the ceiling of the room.

On receiving information, Nayapalli police reached the spot, seized the body and began a probe into the incident.

“At around 7.30 PM, the hostel owner called us saying that Pragyan is not opening the door. After breaking  the door, we saw her hanging from the ceiling with a ‘Dupatta’. She had been staying in the hostel for the last one year,” said an inmate of the hostel.
