Youth arrested for sexually exploiting girl on promise of marriage

Odisha police have arrested a youth for allegedly forcing a girl into a physical relationship on the pretext of marrying her.

The accused has been identified as Alekh Pradhan (26), a native of Haldia village in Kendrapada district under Marsaghai police station limits.

According to police sources, Alekh befriended the victim in a shopping mall here few months ago. After their proximity developed, Alekh forced her to have a physical relationship with him on assurance of marrying her.

However, Alekh did a disappearing act and remained incommunicado. Finding no other way out, the distressed girl lodged a complaint with the Mahila police station here following which the accused was arrested on Monday.
