Youth critical in elephant attack in Odisha’s Keonjhar

A youth was critically injured in an elephant attack at Ragadi village under Champua forest range in Odisha’s Keonjhar district last night.

The victim, identified as Rama Munda, sustained injuries on his thighs and was admitted to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.

According to reports, as many as eight elephants stormed into the village last night. Though Forest department personnel and villagers dispersed seven jumbos towards forest, a tusker managed to stay inside the village.

Munda came in front of the pachyderm following which the animal attacked him. The elephant’s tusk penetrated Munda’s thigh injuring him grievously.
