Youth dies, 4 injured during fitness test for police job in Odisha

Kalahandi/Sambalpur/Keonjhar: In a tragic incident, a youth died and four others were critical after falling ill during the physical test for recruitment as constable to the Indian Reserve Battalion, under Odisha Police.

The deceased has been identified as Susant Nayak of Godabhata village under Biswanathpur block in Kalahandi district.

Sources said the constable aspirant had fallen ill while running on the ground. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he breathed his last.

Similarly, two other candidates were also taken ill during the physical test in Sambalpur and admitted to a hospital. The two candidates – Haridarshan Choudhery and Sanjay Deep – were running 5 km as part of test and they fell on ground all of a sudden.

Sambalpur SP Sanjeev Arora visited the hospital and enquired about the health of the two youths.

In Keonhjar, two young men– Subrat Khillar and Susant Mahanta — appearing the physical test had fallen ill and admitted to a hospital.

Earlier in the week, Suresh Pradhan, a native of Narsinghpur of Cuttack, died while running at the Odisha Swift Action Force (OSAP) Seventh Battalion Ground in Cuttack.
