Youth duped of Rs 30K on pretext of getting role in film in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has arrested a youth on charges of duping another youth of Rs 30,000 on  the pretext of offering him a role in Odia film.

Accused Dipti Ranjan Dash, a resident of Kendrapara district, has four cases, including theft and cheating pending against him at various police stations.

As per the complaint lodged at Saheed Nagar police here, Dipti was spreading rumour that he has contacts in Odia film industry and he helps people get roles in films. After knowing this, one Satya Ranjan Das came to him and approached him  to give him the lead actor’s role in a film. However, Dipti demanded Rs 30,000 from him in return.

After getting the money from Satya Ranjan, the accused started avoiding the former. In fact, he did not call Satya Ranjan for any scooting for long. On being suspicious, Satya Ranjan lodged a complaint with Saheed Nagar police.

On  Sunday, when the accused was heading to somewhere on his motorcycle, the complainant managed to catch hold of him at Rupali Square and immediately called up the police. The Saheed Nagar police reached the spot and arrested the accused.
