According to reports, a blood stained body with hands tied was spotted by locals on the railway tracks this morning. The deceased identified as Pravat Nayak was found dead with severed legs.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Nayak hails from Cuttack and was staying at his in-laws’ place in Poonama Gate area, hardly few meters from the site where his body was found.

The deceased was working as a contractual worker with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and was staying in the city since last four years. Family members of Pravat alleged that he has been murdered and suspect the involvement of his in-laws behind the unnatural death.

“He was staying with his in-laws since last three-four years. You can ask anybody about his behaviour. He was a well-behaved and decent boy. He had no enmity with anybody. He has been murdered by his in-laws,” Sabita Nayak, the mother of deceased alleged.

Meanwhile, Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel reached the spot and recovered the body. Police registered a u/d (unnatural death) case and are investigating into the incident.

The locked house of Nayak’s in-laws has deepened the mystery over the murder.
