Youth killed while returning home from Sital Sasthi Yatra in Odisha’s Balangir

Balangir: Unidentified attackers wielding sharp weapons struck two young individuals in Balangir district on Tuesday night, resulting in the death of one and critical injuries to the other.

The deceased has been identified as Saroj Panigrahi, a resident of Sarobarapada, while the injured individual, Prema Sahu, is from Kandhapalipada in the western Odisha town.

According to reports, the two youths were on their way home after attending the Sital Sasthi Yatra when the assailants assaulted them near Nrusingha Temple, using sharp weapons.

Both victims were rescued and taken to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital for medical attention. Tragically, Saroj succumbed to his injuries.

Currently, Sahu remains hospitalized and his condition is reported to be critical.

Although the attackers fled the scene following the assault, the Balangir Town police have initiated an investigation with the aim of apprehending the culprits.
