Youth kills brother following fight over mobile phone in Odisha

Rayagada: Following a small fight over a mobile phone, a youth killed his younger brother at  Panasguda village under Kashipur block in Rayagada district. Both are Kerala returnees and had returned to their house two days ago after spending their quarantine period at a temporary medical camp (TMC).

Sources said 23-year-old Pintu Majhi and 27-year-old Papu Majhi, both are sons of one Lalu Majhi of the village, had been working as labourers in Kerala. They had returned to their hometown by a Sharmik Special train recently and were later sent to Temporary Medical Camp (TMC) at Kashipur Nodal High School. After being quarantined for 16 days,  the two brothers had returned to their house at Panasguda two days ago.

However, a heated argument ensued between the two brothers over a trivial issue related to a mobile phone late last night. The argument later went violent and in a fit of rage, Papu started beating his younger brother with a wooden stick killing him on the spot.

On receiving information, police reached the spot this morning and recovered the body. The  cops also detained the accused and further initiated a probe into the incident.
