Youth tied to electric pole, thrashed over cricket match dispute in Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: A youth was tied to an electric pole and thrashed over a dispute related to a local cricket match at Laxmiprasad village under Basudevpur block of Odisha’s Bhadrak district.

According to reports, the cricket match was being held between two local teams at the village ground on February 25. An argument ensued between the two teams over a shot by a batter.

While Siddharth Rout, captain of the winning team, was heading towards his house after conclusion of the match, some players of the losing team nabbed him and tied him to the electric pole located on the outskirts of the village.

They thrashed him mercilessly, leaving him critically injured. The victim sustained grievous injuries on his head, chest and legs.

Though the family members of Siddharth tried to save him, but in vain as they were assaulted by the attackers too.

On being informed about the incident, police reached the spot, rescued the victim and admitted him to hospital.

On the basis of a complaint, police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.
