Youth’s palm chopped off in group clash in Odisha’s Balangir

Balangir: A youth’s palm was chopped off and another person sustained critical injuries in a group clash at Rajeev Nagar under Town police limits in Odisha’s Balangir district today.

According to reports, brawl between the two groups erupted over past enmity this afternoon. Around 6-7 persons of a particular group attacked the members of other group with sharp weapons leaving the two victims, identified as Alok Ranjan Das and Amit Patnaik, grievously injured.

The duo was admitted to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital here in a critical condition. The attackers went absconding after the incident. Till last reports came in, palpable tension was prevailing in the area.

Though no written complaint was lodged in this regard, police reached the hospital and recorded the statements of the two. Efforts were on to apprehend the assailants, police sources said.
