Zilla Parishad member arrested for beating up doctor in Odisha

Kendrapara, Sept 17:

Police today arrested a sitting Zilla Parishad member of the Congress party for allegedly beating up a doctor of a government-run hospital in Rajnagar in Odisha’s Kendrapara disrict.

Arun Kumar Rout, ZP member of zone-31 of Rajnagar block, had allegedly manhandled the then medical officer of Rajnagar community health centre (CHC), Bhakti Dipak Pattnaik on February 19 this year.

Rout was arrested under IPC sections 224, 225 and 34 and was forwarded to court. He was later sent to jail following rejection of his bail application by a local court.
