1.92 lakh Odisha Govt staff to receive COVID-19 jab in 2nd phase

Collectors, Municipal Commissioners & CDMOs have been asked to make elaborate arrangements for the drive.

Bhubaneswar:  The process to immunize frontline workers in Odisha in the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination will begin on February 6. They will be vaccinated in their respective Government offices, said Health and Family Welfare Director and state Vaccine In-Charge Bijay Panigrahi.

Initially, the vaccine will be administered to officials and employees of Home, Housing and Urban Development and Revenue Departments.  Special rooms will be opened at different Government offices for the drive, he added.

A database of 1,92, 437 officials and staff of all three departments have been prepared. Out of them, 1,57,388  beneficiaries belong to Home Department, 25,961 are from Housing and Urban Development and 9088 from Revenue Department.

Location-wise, highest 24,197 beneficiaries are in Khordha district  followed by 13,043  in Ganjam, 12,636 in Cuttack and 11,380 in Koraput. Lowest 2,000 beneficiaries have been identified in Boudh and 2412  in Sonepur.

All Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, CDMOs and Directors of Capital Hospital and Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) have been asked to make elaborate arrangements for the drive. The drive is targeted to complete in three weeks, Panigrahi informed.

Meanwhile, 63,090 doses of Covishield vaccine and  83,500 doses of Covaxin arrived in the state yesterday. So far, 2,08,205 people have been vaccinated in the state, which is 62 % of the total beneficiaries targeted in first phase of the immunization drive.

While the first dose of the first phase vaccination will complete on February 10, vaccination of the second dose will begin on February 15, informed the Health Director.
